◎简 介
20世纪80年代，一种名为M-88的病毒在东德陆军细菌研究所失窃。该病毒需在零下10度的环境里保存，超过0度将自我繁殖，并带有极强的毁灭性。偷盗病毒的间谍飞机不慎撞上阿尔卑斯山，次年春天，病毒大肆蔓延。被专家称为“意大利感冒”的疾病席卷全球，死亡人数不断增加。最终世界上只有11国家驻南极科考队的八百多人存活。科学家吉住周三（草刈正雄 饰）和幸存者们成为人类最后的希望。 另一方面，美国反共军人怀疑该病毒为苏联的秘密武器，于是启动核弹装置。而苏联的ARS系统（全自动报复装置）一旦测得本土遭受袭击，将发射境内所有核弹头炸向对手。病毒危机尚未解除，一场毁灭地球的灾难即将来临……
