◎简 介
1949年，太平洋战争已经结束，备受军中无聊生活困扰的弗雷迪·杰奎（华金·菲尼克斯 Joaquin Phoenix 饰）终于返回美国，然而返家前的精神治疗没有给他实际的帮助，弗雷迪陷入了一种恍惚乏味的人生体验无法自拔。次年，在经历了一系列工作失败后，弗雷迪在醉后登上的客 船上结识了经历复杂的“大师”卡斯特（菲利普·塞默·霍夫曼 Philip Seymour Hoffman 饰）。卡斯特建立在时间理论之上的精神治疗法引起了弗雷迪的兴趣，在卡斯特的“引诱”下，弗雷迪尝试敞开心扉，寻求解决自己的问题，并越来越亲近卡斯特松散的“缘教”组织，为其摇旗呐喊、打击异议者。在“治疗”过程中，弗雷迪与卡斯特的关系分分合合，愈发复杂……
