◎简 介
英国作家詹姆斯·米勒（威廉·施梅尔 William Shimell 饰）来到意大利城市托斯卡纳为新作《合法副本》举办讲座。他与读者讨论书中的观点：关于艺术创作真实性的议论是毫无必要的，因为复制品本身即是原作，原作也是由其他作品复制而来。一个做古董买卖的法国女人（朱丽叶· 比诺什 Juliette Binoche 饰）带着11岁的儿子参与了讨论会，想为刚买的书索要签名。中途因为儿子饿了她提前离开，临走时留下了一个电话号码。 米勒和女人在她的古董店再次相遇，他们驱车去郊外看一样东西。她开着车载着米勒无目的游荡，谈论书的主题，参观博物馆，谈论她叛逆的儿子，两人一路上争吵不休。在一个咖啡馆，女老板以为米勒是女人的丈夫，就开始和她围绕米勒讨论起婚姻。于是他们将错就错，米勒开始扮演女人的丈夫，两人约会，去宾馆。但是副本只是复制，而非原作，米勒结束复制身份，独自离开了郊外。 比诺什凭借此片获得第63届戛纳电影节主竞赛单元最佳女演员奖。
